What is distinct here

Echo Forge turns visible musical motifs into a compact rule puzzle. Instead of hiding a sequence, it asks players to apply repeat, mirror and pitch-shift transformations to precise beat positions while the full evidence stays on screen.

Rules

  1. Each commission shows a four-note motif, a named transformation and its compact ABCD formula.
  2. The eight-beat forge belt contains the original motif followed by its transformed echo; only question-mark slots may be edited.
  3. Select a missing beat and enter one of four notes. Test Loop checks the complete pattern; an incorrect loop uses one of three strikes.
  4. Repair four different rule commissions to win. Faster correct loops, fewer strikes and saving the single hint earn a higher local score.

Strategy tips

  • Translate the formula before filling gaps: Repeat copies ABCD, Mirror reverses it to DCBA, and Raise moves every note one color forward.
  • Use the fixed notes as checkpoints. A blank in the second half depends on the visible motif position named by the rule, not on the beat beside it.
  • Save the one-beat tuning hint for a three-gap commission; filling it first also gives you a verified anchor for the remaining pattern.

What we tested

Transformation functions are tested independently before the four-commission win path. QA also checks locked beats, incomplete submissions, strike handling, one-use tuning help, pause state and both number-key and touch entry.

Frequently asked questions

Is Echo Forge a memory game?

No. The motif and transformation formula stay visible. The challenge is applying the rule to the correct beat positions, not recalling a hidden sequence.

Are all four commissions solvable?

Yes. Every target is generated directly from its visible motif and named rule, and automated tests verify every transformation and full four-round completion.

Does Echo Forge upload my notes or score?

No. The active pattern remains in this session, and only the best completed score is stored locally in this browser.
